Installation guide: How to install a toilet in a few easy steps
We always recommend consulting a professional if you are unfamiliar with the installation of plumbing and/or sanitary fixtures.
The following guidelines for installing a new toilet assume that all old equipment has been dismantled and removed, and that all necessary repairs have been carried out.
Follow the steps below to install a two-piece or one-piece toilet.
First of all, here's what you'll need for installation:
- Wrench
- Level
- Ceramic grout
- Hacksaw
- Latex caulking

Step 1
To install the wax ring correctly on the floor toilet flange, press it down until it locks into place. Make sure the flat side of the ring is facing downwards and the tapered edge is facing upwards. Apply sufficient pressure to hold the ring in position during installation, but take care not to deform it.
Step 2
Insert the anchor bolts through the toilet flange so that they point upwards. This will ensure that, when the toilet is installed, the bolts protrude through the mounting holes in the toilet base.

Step 3
Once the wax ring and bolts are in place, lift the toilet and make sure the mounting holes are aligned with the anchor bolts on the floor, so they can be installed correctly.
Step 4
Place the toilet on the floor and apply pressure to create an airtight seal with the wax ring. Once installed, avoid moving the toilet, as this could damage the seal and lead to leaks.

Step 5
Fasten washers and nuts to the anchor bolts.
Pro tip: Before tightening the washers and nuts, make sure your toilet is level. If not, place a shim under the base of the toilet and make the necessary adjustments.
Step 6
Once the toilet is correctly positioned, finish tightening the washers and nuts on the anchor bolts using a wrench. Tighten gradually, alternating between the two bolts, until they are securely fastened. Be careful not to over-tighten, as this could lead to cracks and damage to the toilet base.

Step 7
Put the caps on the anchor bolts at the base of the toilet.
Installation tip: If the anchor bolts protrude too far from the washers and nuts, use a hacksaw to shorten them to the appropriate length.
Step 8
If you have a one-piece toilet, skip to step 9.
For two-piece toilets, insert the tank bolts into the mounting holes on the top of the toilet base.

Step 9
Attach washers and nuts to the tank bolts. Make sure the tank is level, then tighten the washers and nuts alternately until the tank is securely fastened to the bowl.
Step 10
Connect the water supply pipes to the bottom of the tank. Turn on the water supply and flush the toilet several times to check for leaks at the back or base.

Step 11
Install the toilet seat by positioning it on top of the bowl and securing it with the included bolts.
Step 12
Finalize the installation by applying latex caulking or tile grout around the toilet base. This will seal the joint between the floor and the bowl, and prevent water from getting near the base of the toilet.
