Installation guide : How to install a shower column
Here's a step-by-step guide to installing a shower column like a pro.
Please note that we always recommend consulting a professional if you are unfamiliar with plumbing installation.
Follow the steps below to install your new shower column.
Here's what you'll need for installation:
- Mounting hardware
- Level
- Wrench
- Silicone-based sealant
- Damp cloth
Step 1
Holding the panel in place, determine the installation location and mark the position of the mounting holes for drilling.
Step 2
Drill the holes using the appropriate bit for the wall surface or material.
Step 3
Secure the mounting bracket to the wall using the mounting hardware.
Installation tip: the type of mounting hardware used will be determined by the material of the finished wall. Appropriate mounting hardware can be purchased at any good hardware store if not included.
Step 4
Attach the shower hose to the outlet on the side of the shower panel. Proceed gradually, alternating from one nut to the other until both are tight.
Step 5
If a separate shower arm is included, insert the new arm into the panel fitting and turn to tighten. Finish tightening with a wrench. Wrap the shower arm in a dry cloth to protect the finish while tightening. Thread the new showerhead onto the arm and tighten by hand.
Step 6
Connect the water supply hoses to the main water supply.
Step 7
Turn on the water supply to make sure there are no leaks in the pipes before attaching the shower to the wall. If no leaks are detected, continue with the installation. In the event of a leak, use your wrench to tighten the fittings if necessary.
Step 8
Fix the shower panel to the wall by hanging it from the mounting bracket. Check that it is securely hung, and adjust the level if necessary.
Step 9
Once the shower panel is in place, turn on the water and check that all fittings are tight (there should be no water leaks) and that the hot and cold water supplies are working properly. Direct the water to each outlet and let it run for about 60 seconds.
Step 10
Apply a bead of silicone sealant to the sides and top of the shower panel, wiping off any excess sealant with a damp cloth.
Important: Do not apply silicone sealant along the underside of the shower panel. This will allow water to escape from the panel in the event of a leak.
